An independent studio run by 80 volunteers
Skytale is a French independent video-game studio, set up as a non-profit association and carried by more than 80 active volunteers. Since 2019 we have been designing games and events on Minecraft, with our own game editor. Our productions are free and made 100 % by volunteers.
Over the years, several charity initiatives have come to life, in collaboration with major names of French streaming, notably during ZEvent 2025, with associations such as Un cadeau pour la vie, and even with public institutions like the Ministry of Ecological Transition.
Our flagship project, The Last Artifact, shows our ability to develop an independent video game entirely with volunteers, using every convention of the professional games industry.
Our work has been recognized with the City of Paris Young Volunteer Award 2022, and The Last Artifact is recognized by the Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo as the largest nonprofit game ever made in France.

Our values
Sharing
We build to be useful beyond the studio. Our game editor, the Skytale Map Editor, will be released as open source when The Last Artifact comes out. What we learn, we give back, on our Discord and across our community projects.
Learning
You learn here by doing, with feedback from peers and in-house workshops. The best measure of the result is in the lengths of service shown on the Our team page.
Commitment
Boldness
We're not afraid to aim too high for a nonprofit. We had the music of The Last Artifact recorded by an orchestra in Sofia, and showcased our games at the Village Olympique during the Paris 2024 Games. Dreaming big, then actually doing it, is how we move forward.
